CAT Technical Support 12 x 3516 Prime Power Gensets + 80 Mobile Gensets & Light Towers – NATO Base HKIA Airport, Kabul, Afghanistan.
Served as CAT Technical Expert – Electric Power, leading the Prime Power Maintenance Department at Hamid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) under NATO operations. Supported mission-critical infrastructure in a high-security, high-altitude environment, ensuring uninterrupted power for essential systems. On arrival, I prioritized team welfare by securing proper PPE, upgrading tooling and equipment, and even sourcing a washing machine to improve hygiene and morale. Operating independently with no external assistance, I delivered full-spectrum support for generator and power system maintenance, including planned and reactive schedules.
Oversaw and maintained three CAT 3516 power plants supplying continuous prime power, supervised 80 mobile generators (including two deployed outside the wire), and serviced 20 light towers supporting perimeter security. Repaired CAT 3516 engines, generators, electrical and control systems, and restored synchronizing, load sharing, and power management systems in compliance with CAT factory standards and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW). Adapted systems for Kabul’s high-altitude conditions, delivered onsite technical training for CAT and FG Wilson systems, conducted regular Health & Safety Toolbox Talks (TBTs), and led a team of technicians to ensure operational readiness and NATO compliance in an austere environment.
